HAD 64: Holiday Spiced Drinks

Christmas time has come, so let's have a . . . What the hell is this. Why are there eggs in THIS? Am I Rocky balboa all of a sudden? It's Christmas time, I don't need to eat lightning and crap thunder. Oh, eggnog. I guess it's time for winter seasonal drinks, so here we go a wasseling and obviously, we're going to have a drink.

A fine bagged Lambic

Wassail

  • 4 Small Apples Cored and Filled with Sugar and studded with Cloves then baked with a quartered medium orange for 40 mins.

  • 2 Quarts of Hard Apple Cider

  • ½ Cup Brandy

Add all of the previous ingredients to a Heavy stock pot and begin to heat up, do not boil it. Add the following to a muslin bag and drop in the heating cider.

  • 1 Tbs. Fresh Ginger Root Sliced

  • 1 tsp. Grated Nutmeg

  • 6 Allspice Berries

  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks

Mulled Wine:

  • A bottle of inexpensive Red Wine

  • A Shot of Port (Optional, Could use Rum, Vodka or Whisky)

  • An orange Into Sections and stuffed with whole cloves

  • A stick of Cinnamon

  • Teaspoon of Ground Nutmeg

  • 2-5 Tablespoons of brown sugar to taste.

  • Mix it all in a apn on the stove allow to heat for 20 ins without boiling. Strain out the added whole spices and serve hot.
